Origin of Granullés
The progenitor of this surname, according to Mosén Jaime Febrer and Gaspar de Escolano, was a Catalan soldier from the town of Granullés (today Granollers), in the province of Barcelona, who was at the service of King Jaime I of Aragon , and whom this Monarch commissioned to delineate the layout of the Puig force and to build the causeway that led to the sea. As a reward for these services, Don Jaime authorized him to take the name of the town where he was born and to be called Granullés from then on. He also inherited several properties in the town of Puig, passing on to his descendants the house and estate that fell to him, as well as the surname Granullés.
