Family of ancient lineage of Valencian Nobles and Hidalgos.


In the old Kingdom of Valencia there were Adell family houses in Càlig, their owners Andreu and Pere Adell in 1379, and La Pobla de Benifassà, their owners Berenguer, Anthoni, Domingo, Miquel and Salvador Adell in 1396.


Gaspar Adell, a native of the Kingdom of Valencia, received the Military Privilege of Cavalry in the year 1611, granted by King D. Felipe III, and was knighted by the Marquis of Caracena.


Salvador Adell y Pellicer, Lord of the Chova barony, born in Valencia, Knight of Montesa, married to Juana Mª Ferragut y Sanguino, born in Valencia, were the parents of Salvador and Luis Adell y Ferragut.


Salvador Adell y Ferragut, Lord of the Chova Barony, born in Valencia in 1722, lawyer, married in San Felipe (Játiva) on November 20, 1757 to Francisca de Bie (or Vie) Valterra, born in Játiva in the year 1735. They were the father of Antonio, Alberto, Salvador, Luis, Francisco, Mª Manuela and Mª Francisca Adell and de Bie. Documented in the year 1764, in which it is said that he possessed the jurisdiction of the place of Chova.

Vicente Adell, a native of Valencia and Mrs. Teodora Montaña, spouses were the parents of Raimundo Adell y Montaña, a native of Valencia, governor of Peñíscola (Castellón), married to Teresa Peñarroya, born in Valencia, and were parents of: a) Vicente Adell y Peñarroya, Knight of Santiago in 1696; b) Antonio Adell y Peñarroya, Knight of Montesa in 1703, married to Constanza Pellicer y Alfonso.


Salvador Adell, born in Valencia, son of Antonio Adell, Knight Seminarian of the College of Nobles of the city of Valencia, which he entered on November 12, 1695, through the Administration scholarship that Joaquín Peñarroya had.


Salvador Adell y Feliu, born in the city of Valencia in 1804, was the son of Antonio Adell, Baron de Chova, and Mª Luisa Feliu, he was a Knight Seminarian of the College of Noblemen of the city of Valencia on 18 May 1819.


The following entered the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem: Francisco Adell y Sabater, a native of Borjas del Campo (Tarragona), presbyter and prior of Rivarroya in 1756; Frey Luis Adell, Bie, Ferragut and Valterra, a native of Valencia, in 1777; Frey Alberto Adell Bie, Ferragut and Valterra, born in Valencia in 1779.


The following entered the Order of Montesa: Tomás Adell Sacristán Puig y Sarrio, a native of Valencia, as a religious in 1792; Salvador Adell y Pellicer, a native of Valencia, in 1715; Francisco Javier Adell y de Bie, born in Valencia in 1804.


The following entered the Royal Maestranza de Cavalry of Valencia as Knights: Luis Adell y Ferragut in 1776, Antonio Adell y de Bie, Ferragut y Vallterra, Baron de Chova, in 1780; Salvador Adell y de Bie, Ferragut y Valterra, Master of Valencia in 1803 and Salvador Adell y de Bie, Ferragut y Valterra, chaplain of the Real Maestranza in 1797.


To hold positions in the Holy Office of the Inquisition, the following proved his nobility: Juan Bautista Adell Puig, a native of Catí, and his wife Rosa Sacristán Sarrio, a native of Valencia, for Official, in Valencia, in 1778; Vicente Adell Bou y Peñarroya, a native of Valencia, for Official, at Court, in 1695; Luis Adell Ferragut Pellicer y Sanguino, a native of Valencia, Canon of the Holy Metropolitan Church of Valencia, for Ordinary Inquisitor, in Valencia, in 1770, and Vicente Adell Fenollet Revert y Villarrasa, a native of Valencia, for Family Member, in Valencia, in 1631
