Last name originally from Catalonia. In the province of Lleida there are two towns called Benavent, whose name must be related to that of the lineage. At least the Benavents were Lords of those towns, according to Pedro Vitales.

The conquerors of Cuatretonda and Luchente (València) came from an Aragonese branch, who founded a patronage and benefit in the chapel of the Metropolitan Church of the city of Valencia, its founder being Francisco Benavent. From him descended Joseph and Miguel Benavent who made information of nobility in 1631 and 1637, respectively.


Antonio Benavent, a native of Montroig (Tarragona), Captain and Commissioner of the Royal Armies, obtained the privilege of Honorable Citizen of Barcelona on January 30, 1671.
